ok so i tested the novak slydr esc with 7.5 brushless system today... heres what i got... first off when you look at the slydr youll notice it looks like a normal gtb system... it pretty much is anly a different color and a few things done to the electronics inside... mostly noticable when you read the instructions is the fact that now you can change the throttle control... alot like the mamba max esc only you dont point and click... theres 3 different throttle choices to help control take off and help you control your rc... well i tested the system with my cyclone hara edition on hpi type-t and type a tires only so far... i think that the 7.5 is overkill for drifting... but then again im used to an 8.5 and 13.5... running type t tires i felt no change as far as control... easier to push the car sideways due to the power... it took me a little while to get used to the power but i got it ok... im no pro... i put type a tires on and i noticed a big differance between the gtb 8.5, xbr 8.5 system and mamba max systems... it seems to have more torque than the other systems... it seemed easier to control than the others... so with this noted... plastic tires still feel the same where as i feel more incontrol of my rc with the novak slydr... heres some pics... oh and notice the box... gtb with a slydr drift spec sticker on it... sorry this is my second review of and item... the first was about a bmx part i test about 2 years ago... that of which i know way more about... hope you enjoy and please leave any feedback you may have... thanks...

Hi Mike, thanks for the mini review. On the instruction form, that bit thats under your thumb (doh!) that tells you what's special about this system and why it suits drifting - can you expose a little more! What does it offer, or claim to offer, that the normal systems don't? The fact that you prefer it to the other systems suggests they've got it right?

I'd be really interested to know who their 'top drifters of the world' were that they used for consultation!!!! Name names! It seems that some manufacturers are making these sort of claims where no one of any note has been approached at all!

Maybe they did contact top drifters. That is, the top drifters from novak :p

On RC Tech a guy from Novak commented on the packaging, and said that they were going to get new packaging that actually says SLYDR on the box when they "start shipping domestically" (?!)

Mike, what was the difference between the XBR and MM? Did those motors seem to have less low end torque compared to the Slydr? Did they seem faster?

interesting review. I am curious how does the slydr stack up price wise compared with other novak brushless systems? or is it still on the early approach to the market?

When is this system due to be released in the states?

Any more words on this system? I'm considering making the move to brushless, and this sytem is on my list of potentials...

I have it in my son's yokomo. Next time we are at the track you should try it. You already played with the GTB w/ SS8.5 in my pro-d and the ta05, it honestly isn't very different the way I like to have them setup.

Sweet!
